Powerful words!
I don’t have kids but I have plenty of nieces & nephews. It is so important for us to watch what we say around them. The phrase “Sticks & stones may break my bones but names/words never hurt me” is a straight up LIE (in my opinion). Word can stick with you forever if it’s deep enough to affect you. Not every kid can deflect off a negativity. They’re still growing and are still learning about life.
As an adult, I believe that we all should be as honest as possible to them and give them positive reinforcement. If they’re not good at something, tell them that it’s okay and that they may better at something else. With that, we should help them to find the things they are good at.
Let’s all examine at the words we often say to the kids in our lives and how our words can have a positive or a negative impact in their lives. After all, they are our future!
